Aylesbury residents were delighted by free entertainment at their Platinum Jubilee street parties across the celebratory Bank Holiday weekend.

The Platinum Jubilee Entertainers Roadshow, which was funded and coordinated by Aylesbury Town Council, visited 20 street parties in the Parish of Aylesbury which were celebrating Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s historic 70-year reign on Saturday 4 June and Sunday 5 June.

Party organisers who wanted to experience the fun and thrill from one of the local entertainers applied for one to attend their event free of charge.

The roadshow was enjoyed by residents of all ages in local streets, living rooms, care homes, gardens and driveways. Entertainers included children’s party games with Louise from Party Poppers, mystifying magic with Simon Says Magic, a Best of British singing show with Michaela from MJ Productions and fun games and music with DJ Dan Blaze.

The Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Tim Dixon, made a surprise appearance at some of the street parties and was able to celebrate the special occasion with residents.

Cllr Tim Dixon said: “The roadshows were a wonderful way for the Town Council to support many members of the community, including those who may not have been able to venture far from their homes.

“I was impressed by the work that so many had put into the events and it was brilliant to see how happy everyone was. I spoke with many residents about the work they do locally to support local communities. This town has a lot of unsung heroes that work tirelessly for the betterment of others. It was really good to have the chance to meet so many residents to thank them personally as well as marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.”

A resident was thrilled to have free entertainment at their street party: “The children thoroughly enjoyed every single moment. As did us big people. I think the laughter would have been heard far from Radnor End. The community spirit was electric, I have never known such a wonderful atmosphere and so much fun.

“We were so thrilled to meet the Mayor of Aylesbury too. He spent time posing with us and chatting to everybody. It truly was an amazing day!”
