A day filled with festive cheer, with games, crafts and activities in Friars Square, entertainment in Market Square, market stalls in the Exchange, workshops in local businesses and fun fair rides in Kingsbury. As it gets dark there is an illuminated parade on the High Street and around Market Square, with lots and lots of people. Full event details available here.

- Costumed characters will be roaming the event during the day and later in the parade. Some may engage with you if you wish.
- During the parade there will be lots of vibrant and illuminated costumes, some people will also play music and have flashing lights. For a quieter, low sensory space to view the parade, head to the High Street to watch it go past.
- Blue Badge parking is available in all town centre car parks, with additional spaces allocated in Exchange Street car park. Please note that Blue Badge parking in Market Square and Kingsbury is not available, as the roads are closed for the event.
- The nearest car parks are Exchange Street and Waterside North (approx. 0.2 miles/322 metres walk to Market Square) and Friars Square multi-storey (approx. 0.2 miles/290 metres walk to Market Square).
- Accessible toilets are located on the shops level of Friars Square shopping centre, close to the lifts to the bus station. A Radar key is required and can be borrowed from the Meeting Point.
- A Changing Places toilet is located at Upper Hundreds car park (0.3 miles/ 483 metres walk from Market Square).
- Market Square is cobbled and has uneven surfaces.
- Kingsbury is paved but may have uneven paving slabs.
- The Exchange is paved but may have uneven paving slabs.
- Workshops are held in local businesses – see ticket links once they are available for full accessibility details of the venues.
- Seating is limited and can be found around the public spaces within the town centre.
- The lantern decorating sessions will be located upstairs in House of Fraser’s Café Zest and can be accessed by lift.
- Children’s rides will be located in Kingsbury and assistance can be given to access the rides. You must be able to sit independently to ride.
- The event will be busy, please expect queues at the major activities.
- Quiet Zone is located inside Friars Square shopping centre during the day. Please note that there is not a dedicated quiet zone during the illuminated parade, however you may like to visit the High Street for the parade if you would like to be away from the main crowds.
- BSL interpretation available at 2pm showing of Captain Christmas in Friars Square, and for the entire of the Christmas lights countdown
- A designated accessible viewing area will be located in lower Market Square next to the stage. This is accessible from the flat surface of the “redbrick road”, but the area itself is cobbled. Some seats are available. Depending on demand, it may be necessary to limit companions to one per person.
