“I saw how the cabinets brought colour and a bit of fun to places; the unique style of the artists involved makes each place special and when I was painting there were so many people who told me how much they loved the cabinets and how happy they made them. I feel very fortunate to have been able to be a part of this wonderful project! I hope I can make people happy with this design and bring a bit of brightness to people’s walks.
“I went with the classic Aylesbury duck – such a charming and lovely duck, if you’re ever lucky enough to meet one – I’ve been very lucky and have met two! – but they are sadly endangered! The background is of the black poplar – an endangered tree, with about 50% of Britain’s population in Vale of Aylesbury! I found that such a humbling fact, that we have two endangered species here, and wanted to pay homage to them. The background goes through the different stages of the female black poplar, with the catkins, cotton puffs, autumn leaves and winter branches (spring, summer, autumn, winter seasons, roughly).
“Thank you Aylesbury Town Council for allowing me to be involved in this project.”

Narbeth Drive
10-year-old Grace has painted this stunning sunset on a utility cabinet on Narbeth Drive. She said: “I’d seen some of the cabinets around town (including one painted by a friend) and was keen to paint one myself as art is my favourite subject at school. I love nature, and I thought a sunset would be a nice bright picture. I added the hills and grasses as a nod to the Chilterns.”
Fowler Road
Thrilled to present the latest addition to our painted cabinets initiative: a pair of vibrantly painted utility cabinets located on Fowler Road at the junction of St Anthony’s Close.
Designed by local artist Anthony, this artwork brings humor to everyday infrastructure, making these often-overlooked cabinets a focal point for passerbys. The left cabinet features playful cartoon- style illustrations, with one character appearing contemplative alongside the phrase, “Have a good day?” and another expressing optimism with ” A good day?”. The right cabinet showcases the character posed celebrating. The bright colours and bold lines make the artwork stand out, adding a touch of personality and delight to the surrounding area. We extend our thanks to Anthony for his creative efforts in transforming these cabinets into unique pieces of urban art, contributing to a more visually engaging townscape.

‘”My piece is simple but efficient, I want my piece to stand out so people spot it while driving along or walking past! 🙂 I also want people who know me to see it and think, I know who painted this! I hope you all enjoy my colourful, bright rainbow and I hope for some it can brighten your day!”

‘Emily & Ethan worked really hard together and got lots of compliments from passers-by and neighbours on their design and effort. They really like the theme inspired by our beautiful surrounding Chiltern hills (Coombe hill) and local hot air balloons.
Thanks to Aylesbury Town Council for the initiative, it’s a great community project and we’d encourage others to join in too, we love seeing them pop up around the town. ‘
