Do you know someone whose positive impact has uplifted the community? Or has a local charity or organisation played a pivotal role in shaping your life? The Freda Roberts Community Award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate individuals, groups, and organisations within the parish of Aylesbury who have made a significant positive impact on the town.
Named in honour of Freda Roberts MBE, a dedicated local town, district, and county councillor, this award pays tribute to those who have positively influenced the lives of Aylesbury’s residents. Freda Roberts, a staunch advocate for local democracy and community work, dedicated over 50 years to supporting the town and its people, actively championing numerous local charities and individuals.
Nominees for the Freda Roberts Community Award may have contributed to enhancing community wellbeing, promoted diversity, addressed equality issues, fought against discrimination, participated in innovative community projects or challenges, inspired residents, and acted as community champions, or gone above and beyond for local people.
The award ceremony will take place at the Aylesbury Town Council’s annual Mayor Making Ceremony on Friday 17 May. Previous winners include Richard Walker for his voluntary work as Head Womble for the community litter-picking group, Aylesbury Wombles and Annette “Silver Owl” Jones for her dedication to Girlguiding in Buckinghamshire since 1988.
Applications must be submitted via email, the online form, or post to Town Hall, 5 Church Street, Aylesbury, HP20 2QP, by 12 noon on Friday 22 March. Join us in recognising those who make a difference in the heart of our community.
