Christmas on the Cobbles
Last year, in 2023, thousands of residents from across the community flocked to Aylesbury town centre for an unforgettable afternoon of festive cheer, completely free of charge. The event was packed with a dazzling array of activities and entertainment for all ages, from arts and crafts to lively games, amusement rides, and the highly anticipated illuminated parade
Among the highlights was the captivating LED drumming group, Spark! whos glowing performance led the illuminated procession around Market Square. Santa Claus himself made an appearance, delighting the crowds, alongside Aylesbury Waterside Theatre’s beloved Panto Stars, Andy Collins and Leon Craig, who added to the excitement and festive spirit.
Building on the success of the last year’s event, this year promises to be even bigger and better. A full day of family-friendly fun awaits, with a host of games, crafts, activities, and entertainment spread throughout the Town Centre.
Illuminate your creativity at a lantern decorating session at this year’s Christmas on the Cobbles on Sunday 24 November!
Sign up to our free-to-attend sessions and you and your family can get creative as you decorate lanterns to hold up as you watch the Illuminated Parade pass through the town in the evening or take home to display as part of your Christmas decorations.
Sessions take place at 12pm, 1:15pm and 2:30pm but spaces are limited so be quick! Click here for full details and to book your free space.
But the real showstopper this year is the return of the illuminated parade, which is back by popular demand for 2024- now with an exciting extended route down the High Street! Starting at 5pm, the parade will feature an eclectic mix of performers, including the much-loved Santa Claus, local theatre stars, professional entertainers, dancers from local schools, and community groups. And if that’s not enough, a brand-new spectacle, kept under wraps for now, will be unveiled on the day to add an extra element of wonder and surprise. The festivities will culminate in a magical moment, as the parade reaches it’s final destination, where everyone will come together for the countdown to the grand Christmas lights switch- on, officially making the start of the holiday season in Aylesbury.
